Madurai:
Born of a drop fell from the hair of Shiva, the "city of nectar" mixes a crowd of pilgrims, beggars, men of business, Oxcart vibrant city ... but of modest dimensions, Madurai is also a shelters the oldest and largest of South India and Tamil culture. The statues of the deities of Sri Meenakshi Temple-Sundareshwara richly decorated are transported to the sacred pool, where, mounted on rafts, they join the artificial island, before being brought back with much fanfare in Madurai.
The Temple of Minakshi:
Dravidian heritage important, it provides an astonishing profusion of sculpted figures, ornamental columns and courses cloistered. The temple has two main shrines one is dedicated to the goddess in the eyes of fish, born with three breasts. One of these three breasts miraculously disappeared as the day she met the love of his life. The other temple is dedicated to the famous husband of the goddess, Shiva himself.
Thirumalai Nayak Palace:
Date of the palace built in 1636 by King Thirumalai Nayak. The palace was largely destroyed; there are now that the court and its portico and pillars of 12m high. The theater is the best preserved. It has a dome height of 25 m above the ground.
